(Click here to download the Reader Schedule - January 2021)
In the Eucharistic liturgy of the Catholic Church, lectors are those who proclaim the readings from Sacred Scripture (with the exception of the Gospel), announce the intentions for the Universal Prayers, and recite the Responsorial Psalms between the readings (GIRM 99). Lectors may also join in the entrance procession to the altar, in the absence of a Deacon, carrying the Book of the Gospels (GIRM 194).
If any parishioner feels called by God to serve in the Ministry of Reader/Lector, they are invited to contact the Pastoral Administrator, another member of our clergy, or leave a message at the parish office. Those who are interested should be prepared for great things to happen in the world because of the way they proclaim the readings! What an awesome ministry it is to be an instrument, a minister of the Word of God, who proclaims (and not simply reads) the Sacred Word that God gives to his people!
