The human person holds the capacity to be a minister of the Word of God through music. But, not only does music provide a wonderful means of expressing faith, it also has the power to "lead us to the Creator of all harmony, creating a resonance within us which is like being in tune with beauty and truth of God, with the reality which no human knowledge or philosophy can ever express” (Pope Benedict XVI). In the Catholic Church, the organ is accorded pride of place; however, other wind, stringed, and percussion instruments are also used in divine worship.
Here at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, under the direction of organist Dr. Dan Gibbs, we desire to deepen our relationships with God through the music of our sacred liturgies, to strengthen friendships and fellowship with other members of our parish, to grow in knowledge and appreciation of Catholic worship, and to be transformed through music and faithful discipleship in Jesus Christ.
Holy Trinity Catholic Church is making plans for the safe and secure return of our church choir. Our Music Ministry would like to welcome new members who have a true desire to be of service to God and the church. Do you enjoy singing and/or playing musical instruments, and do you feel that you could make a regular commitment to rehearsals and liturgies? We are now recruiting volunteers to become part of our choir and Music Ministry. Contact our Pastoral Administrator Fr. Duane Trombetta, or our Organist Dr. Dan Gibbs.
We hope to secure commitments from 8 to 10 singers who will commit to regular rehearsal attendance and participation in (for now) the 10:30 am Sunday Mass. As we progress, there may be opportunities for participation in other Masses, or perhaps even a second choir for additional masses. Of course, volunteers who have previous choral experience in church or college choir are welcome, but any volunteer who is interested in learning to sing in parts and in developing listening and tuning skills would be just as welcomed. (We like to say, "We'll provide the tune if you will provide the bucket!)
We are taking proactive measures to assure a safe environment. Our choir will follow safety protocols, including taking temperatures at each gathering, wearing medically approved singing masks, maintainint social distance, and taking sanitation precautions.
